SWSC plans eLearning days for 2018-19 school year
The Southwest School Corporation will conduct “Planned Make-up eLearning Days” for any weather-related district closings that occur during the 2018-19 school year.
The first eLearning make-up day will be Jan. 2. This eLearning day will serve as a required make-up day for the inclement weather closing that occurred on Nov. 15. eLearning make-up days will be announced via School Messenger, the district website and social media.
A Planned Make-Up eLearning Day is an eLearning Day scheduled in advance on a make-up inclement weather day. During a Planned Make-Up eLearning Day, teachers and students work off school campus. Teachers will post assignments on the district’s learning management system, Canvas and students will access those assignments off-campus through Canvas. Teacher and technical assistance will be available to students during designated office hours. The school buildings will be closed to students.
eLearning is an innovative way to provide a seamless educational experience for students through the use of technology.
“Offering an excellent educational experience to our students is a top priority,” SWSC Superintendent Chris Stitzle said. “eLearning is a way for SWSC to continue to provide high-quality educational opportunities to our students outside of the traditional classroom.”
