Sullivan boys finish eighth in WIC
This season has been a struggle for the Sullivan boys soccer team. The difficulties continued for the Golden Arrows as they lost a 6-3 decision to visiting Owen Valley on Saturday, finishing in eighth place in the Western Indiana Conference standings.
“At least we didn’t finish ninth,” said Sullivan coach Perry Thomas. “That team from Roachdale did (North Putnam).
“Seriously, I thought the kids played really well today. But that shows how good Owen Valley is.”
The Golden Arrows (2-12-1 overall, 1-4 in the WIC) never led as the Patriots scored the first two goals.
Sullivan trailed 3-2 as Matt Wardell and Kade Monroe scored goals.
But the Patriots scored three goals in a span of six minutes in the second half to ensure victory.
Monroe scored his second goal in the 26th minute to account for the final tally.
“Kade played today, scoring two goals,” said Thomas.
The boys will conclude the regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday at Terre Haute South.
