Sullivan tops Clay City for fifth win
Mariah Wills tossed a four-hitter to lead Sullivan to a 10-1 victory over Clay City in a nonconference high school girls softball game on Thursday.
Wills allowed just one earned run as she tossed a complete game.
She walked three and struck out two.
Wills helped her own cause with a hit and an RBI.
Center fielder Asia Povlin, who threw out a runner, had a triple, scored one run and picked up an RBI on a bases loaded walk in the sixth.
Hailey Wade walked and scored a run in her only at bat.
Carly Brown had a single, RBI and scored a run in the second.
Abbey Wardell singled home a run on an infield hit in the three-run Sullivan first inning. She also scored two runs.
Maclynne Steele had two hits and scored a run. She also had an RBI in the second as Sullivan jumped out to a 5-0 lead.
Reagan Holeman contributed two hits, including a triple.
Sheyanna Ravellette singled in the seventh and scored a run.
Sydnee Hester put the Arrows ahead 3-0 in the first with a two-run single.
She also drew a walk.
Catcher Madison Robbins threw out a runner at third base. Robbins also reached on an error and walked, scoring two runs.
Clay City dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
Sullivan (5-3) will host Terre Haute South at 5 p.m. today.
