By Times Staff

Alex Cooks tossed a three-hitter to lead Sullivan to a 5-0 victory over host Indian Creek on Tuesday night, claiming its second consecutive Western Indiana Conference championship.
Cooks struck out six and walked three. He threw a no-hitter threw the first five innings.
He pitched out of two-on, one-out jams in the fifth and sixth.
Although the Arrows (18-6, 5-1 in the WIC) made two errors, they turned two double plays to aid Cooks.
Karter Vernelson started the first one with a diving catch in the outfield  and his brother Kyle Vernelson started the second one, which ended the game.
Sullivan scored three runs in the fifth and added two more in the seventh.
Max Mize started things with a double in the fifth, advanced to third on a sacrifice by Kaleb Thrasher and scored when Chris Taylor hit into a fielder’s choice.
Shane Garner, who finished 2-for-4, doubled in Taylor. He scored on a ground out by Sam Steimel for a 3-0 advantage.
In the seventh, Steimel and Jack Conner, who also had a hit, walked. Kyle Vernelson was trying to sacrifice and reached on an infield hit to load the bases.
Karter Vernelson then reached on an error, which allowed Steimel and Conner to score the fourth and fifth runs for the Golden Arrows.
Indian Creek dropped to 18-4 with the loss.
