Motorcycle 'miracle ride' honors 15-month old organ donor
Fifteen-month old Zaedyn L. Owings of Sullivan died at Riley Hospital for Children on June 4 of respiratory arrest due to pneumonia. His parents, RJ Owings and Michelle Johnson, made the decision for Zaedyn to become a donor hero.
Wednesday, Zaedyn’s heart, liver and kidneys were transplanted into three recipients whose lives are saved because of their family’s heroic decision.
Thursday at 10 a.m. Zaedyn’s friends and family escorted him from Indiana Donor Network to Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan on a motorcycle “Miracle Ride.” The event was attended by 23 riders and an Indianapolis Police Department motorcycle escort.
Zaedyn’s parents stated, “Zaedyn was his mothers best friend and his father’s ‘big guy.’ He was the best baby brother and big brother anyone could ask for and yesterday (Wednesday) he became a superhero to three other families. We remember Zaedyn’s love for motorcycles, music and his family were as strong as he was. He was our family’s miracle and now he is a miracle for three other families as well.”
