Hymera traffic stop leads to stolen vehicle and drug arrest

On Thursday at approximately 11:09 p.m., Sullivan County Sheriff's Dept.
Deputy Justin Copeland was doing extra patrol in Hymera, when he observed a
black Jeep Cherokee with a license plate light out.

Deputy Copeland conducted a traffic stop and further discovered that the
vehicle had a fictitious plate. Upon further investigation, it was revealed
that the vehicle was stolen from Whitestown.

As deputies inventoried the vehicle, they discovered a bag of
methamphetamine underneath the driver's seat in a hidden compartment.

The driver, Aaron Hibbard, of Hymera was arrested and charged with criminal
conversion, a Level 5 felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Level 4
felony, and driving while suspended prior, a Class A misdemeanor.

Hibbard's bond was set at $39,000 cash only.

Deputy Copeland was assisted on scene by Deputies Cole Boatright and Greg
