Man arrested driving stolen vehicle in Shelburn
A Nineveh man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle in Sullivan
County on Wednesday.
At approximately noon, Sullivan County Sheriff's Department Lieutenant
William Snead was on patrol when he noticed a suspicious vehicle on
Mill Street in Shelburn.
The deputy ran the license plate and determined the municipal plate
was listed as stolen from Marion County.
Lt. Snead conducted a traffic stop and during the course of the
investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle had also been reported
stolen in a separate incident in Marion County. The driver was
identified as Richard Canter, 44, of Nineveh.
Canter was transported to the Sullivan County Jail where he is being
held on charges of auto theft, a Level 6 felony, and theft, a Class A
misdemeanor. He is being held on $12,000. bond with 10% allowed.
