Carlisle approves bid for roof repairs at town hall
At their monthly meeting on Tuesday night, the Carlisle Town Council
approved a bid to have the roof repaired at town hall.
The board unanimously approved a bid of $14,930 from Paitson Roofing &
Siding Co. Inc. in Terre Haute.
Town Marshal Jerry Mize explained that Paitson cannot make repairs
around the dormer, a window that projects vertically from a sloping
roof and the siding in cold weather.
“Because of the weather, they probably won’t be able to start the
repairs until it gets warmer,” said Mize. “But since they will be
making repairs and not patching, the work will be guaranteed.
“Once they begin the repairs, they did not say how long they would take.”
The board also approved an upcoming payment of approximately $60,000
to HWC Engineering for paving roads and sidewalk installations.
The board approved the monthly payment of $28,452 to Layne Christensen
Company for continued work on the town’s water project.
Clerk Treasurer Suzan Ridgway informed the board that they were
approved for a CARES Act grant for $21,142.
“We will be receiving it sometime after Dec. 8,” she said. “We
initially requested the money to help with police protection.
“But like a lot of other towns that have received similar money, we
don’t have to use it right away. Some are keeping it for two or three
years because of the COVID. At some point, we might be able to
transfer it into our general fund.”
The next town council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at town hall.
