Sullivan girls lose to Knights
Northview shot 175 as the visiting Knights beat Sullivan, who had a score of 222, in a high school girls golf match at the Sullivan Elks Club Golf Course on Wednesday.
Courtney Lueking led the Lady Arrows with a score of 48.
Cara Gofourth shot 56 and Bonnie Witt and Molly Ranard each shot 59.
“Northview is a good team,” said Sullivan coach Justin Ridge. “They had six scores that were better than our lowest score. They had a 47 that did not count.
“But we had some positives. Molly broke 60 for the first time. She was very happy about that.”
Sullivan will host West Vigo today, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Arrows drops conference match
Brayden Cagle and Jared Couch earned a win at No. 1 doubles as Sullivan lost a 4-1 decision at South Putnam in a Western Indiana Conference boys tennis match on Wednesday.
“It was good to see Brayden and Jared finally get a win in three sets,” said Sullivan coach Wes Kirk. “They bounced back after losing at tough three-setter last night.
“They hung tough and were mentally strong.”
Kirk said that Parker Dugan led 5-4 in the first set before falling in straight sets.
“Parker learned some things tonight that he can apply moving forward,” said Kirk.
He added that Dillon Grubb played well, winning eight games in a straight-set loss at No. 3 singles.
Koby Wood won one of two singles matches in the JV contest while Chris Conrad and Eli Gettinger each lost a singles match and teamed up for a setback at doubles.
Sullivan will play at Indian Creek at 10 a.m. Saturday.
