Sullivan loses to North
Terre Haute North came up with eight hits and took advantage of two Sullivan errors as they pushed across eight runs in their first at bat as the visiting Patriots cruised to a 16-1 victory in five innings on Tuesday in a high school baseball game at Sportland Field.
“They really swung the bat well,” Sullivan coach Tony Steimel told the media. “They hit some shots.
“We learned some lessons on fly balls.”
North sent 13 batters to the plate in the first as they chased Sullivan starter Eli Steimel, who took the loss.
Jacob Hawkins and Kailer Johnson also pitched for the Golden Arrows.
Steimel hit a solo home run in the fourth inning off of winning pitcher Bryson Carpenter to account for the only hit and only run for Sullivan. Carpenter allowed just the one hit while striking out four in his five innings of work.
Sullivan will play on Wednesday at Loogootee, starting at 5:30 p.m.
