Ladybirds softball edge Greencastle


North Central pushed across the winning run in the top of the seventh inning as the Ladybirds edged host Greencastle 12-11 in a high school softball game on Tuesday.

North Central finished with 18 hits as Brooklin Klitzing and Brynn Varner each had four hits, Emmy Woodruff three, Malee McCoskey and Hope Crooks had two each and Kayla Goldsworthy, Mykenzie Wence and EmmaLe Zimmerman each had one base hit. Woodruff and Varner each doubled.

Crooks scored three runs, Zimmerman, Klitzing and Varner two each and Wence, Woodruff and Goldsworthy each scored once.

Klitzing (four) and Woodruff (three) combined for seven RBIs while Zimmerman, McCoskey and Goldsworthy each drove in one run.

Goldsworthy pitched the first three innings, allowing four hits and nine runs, three earned.

Wence got the victory as she pitched four innings of relief. She allowed seven hits and two runs.

North Central will play at 5 p.m. today at Linton.
